The private house is fitted with an external, weatherproof curtain along the undulating glass façade on the ground floor and along the circular glass façade on the upper floor. This serves to protect against heat and glare. In addition, it fulfills the changing needs of openness and unity.

A blackout curtain was needed for an almost seven-metre high exhibition room in the NS Documentation Centre in Munich to temporarily protect the light-sensitive exhibits from UV light during exhibitions and to enable projections. This curtain is colour-coordinated with the floor, walls and ceiling.
A transparent curtain hanging in front of it picks up the colours of its surroundings and reproduces them within a colour gradient. The vertical grid of the large window is continued in the design of the curtain, with one colour spanning two of the narrow windows before a colour change takes place.
The two curtains can be moved independently of each other, creating completely different light and room situations.

In the course of the renovation of the Buchrucker-hall of the Diakonie Munich district office, two curtains were designed. They cover the window front facing the inner courtyard and the closed wall on the opposite side of the room.
The design abstractly represents a cross shape. The radiating coloured areas meet where the curtains are each divided and can be opened towards the corners of the room.

Scope of work: Space defining curtain and acoustics

A three-piece curtain was created to flexibly cut off part of the large office space and hide the areas behind the curtain, such as the kitchen, the printer‘s room, and access to the toilet. The floor-to-ceiling curtain can be opened or closed as needed. It significantly improves room acoustics by reducing the reverberation time.

Scope of work: Interior sun protection and darkening curtains

The refurbished academic research space of the NUR Lab is fitted with a multi-layered system of curtains along the curved window front. It adapts to the harsh desert climate in that the curtains provide internal solar shading through to blackout to allow projections due to changing transparency.
The colour scheme of the blackout curtains echoes the tripartite division of the window front created by the external columns.

In order to improve the acoustics of the mutipurpose room, a two-part, thick wool curtain was hung on the opposite walls of the room. If required, the opaque curtain can be moved on a circumferential rail to darken the room.
According to the museum‘s thematic orientation as a museum of local history in the Allgäu, the acoustic curtain is made of a hand-woven woollen fabric individually designed for the room.
The inspiration for the design of the curtain is the „Flickerlteppich“, a carpet known and used throughout the Alpine region. The stripes in the colours of the room dissolve towards the top to form a plain-coloured surface. The result is an abstracted Alpine landscape.
Since both the yarn for the curtain was hand-spun and the curtain itself hand-woven, the production of the curtain is almost climate-neutral.

A second curtain made of a light, translucent wool fabric is used as sun protection along the window front.

Scope of work: Space creating curtains with sound-absorbing effect and entrance curtain

Through a specially developed curtain system, the administration building‘s conference room can be divided into almost any configuration to accommodate a wide variety of occasions: lectures, small meetings, larger conferences. The space dividing curtains are temporarily usable and individually changeable. The result is an interplay between opening and closing and between communication and withdrawal.
The curtain packages consist of a double-hanging heavy, sound-insulating textile quality in various shades of blue and gray, which improve room acoustics and reduce noise.
The digitally printed pattern of the entrance curtain with its different shades of blue is an abstraction of the logo of the Landesverband Bayerischer Bauinnungen.

The fourteen classrooms of the school are oriented towards the inner courtyard. Exterior, weatherproof curtains in front of each classroom serve as heat and glare protection. In addition, they fulfill the changing needs of openness and unity. Closed curtains create pleasant shady spaces.
