Exhibition Textile Architecture

Place: Staatliches Textil- und Industriemuseum Augsburg, Germany

Client: Staatliches Textil- und Industriemuseum Augsburg

Design/Realization: 2012 – 2013

Scope of work: Curation of the exhibition „Textile Architecture“ and exhibition design with Andreas Ferstl Architekten

According to the topic, the exhibition architecture was constructed entirely from textile elements: a huge curtain wound through the exhibition space like a textile ribbon and formed rooms where the contents were conveyed by means of texts, images, models, material samples, and films.
In addition, the ribbon also functioned as an information medium and guidance system: all images and texts were printed on fabric.
The five construction principles (curtain, textile roof, umbrella, tent, and balloon) were implemented spatially, for example, by standing under a luminous textile roof, entering a Yurt or being in a pneumatic bubble. Thus, the visitor could experience the different spatial situations emotionally.
